Method
Prepare the Tiramisu Filling
- 1
Whip the Cream
In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks. This will take about 3-5 minutes with an electric mixer.
- 2
Mix Mascarpone
In another bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix gently until smooth and well combined.
- 3
Combine Mixtures
Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture carefully, ensuring not to deflate the whipped cream. Mix until just combined.
Assemble the Tiramisu
- 4
Prepare Coffee Mixture
In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using). Stir well.
- 5
Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in a rectangular dish.
- 6
Layer with Filling
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers, smoothing it out evenly.
- 7
Repeat Layers
Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 8
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
Serve the Tiramisu
- 9
Dust with Cocoa
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder using a fine sieve.
- 10
Slice and Serve
Cut into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your classic Italian tiramisu!
