Mushroom Preparation

Method

Mushroom Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Mushrooms

Using a damp cloth, gently wipe the fresh mushrooms to remove any dirt. Avoid washing them under water as they can absorb moisture.

  2. 2

    Slice the Mushrooms

Slice the cleaned mushrooms into even pieces, about 1/4 inch thick, to ensure they cook evenly.

Cooking Process

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until the butter is melted and bubbling.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Aromatics

Add the minced garlic and chopped shallots to the skillet. Sauté for about 2 minutes, or until they become fragrant and translucent.

  3. 5

    Add the Mushrooms

Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Stir well to coat them with the oil and butter mixture. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are browned and tender.

  4. 6

    Deglaze with Wine

Pour in the burgundy wine and add the fresh thyme, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, allowing the wine to reduce slightly.

  5. 7

    Finish and Serve

Once the liquid has thickened slightly, remove the skillet from heat. Taste and adjust seasoning if desired. Serve warm as a side dish or over grilled meats.
