Sausage & Sauce
Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.
- 2
Cook Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package directions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti and set aside.
Preparing the Sausage & Sauce
- 4
Cook Sausage
In a large skillet over medium heat, remove the casing from the sweet Italian sausage and crumble it into the skillet. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
- 5
Add Garlic
While the sausage is cooking, mince the garlic cloves. Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- 6
Incorporate Sun-Dried Tomatoes
Add the sun-dried tomatoes to the skillet, stirring to combine with the sausage and garlic.
- 7
Add Butter and Cream
Reduce heat to low and add butter to the skillet, allowing it to melt. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine, cooking until warmed through.
- 8
Season the Sauce
Add salt, black pepper, and Parmesan cheese to the sauce, stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
- 9
Combine with Pasta
Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the sauce, tossing to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
- 10
Finish with Basil
Remove from heat and stir in fresh basil before serving.
