Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust them with flour, tapping out the excess flour.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined and slightly thickened.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture, stirring constantly until combined. Then, add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

  5. 5

    Add Flour

Sift the all-purpose flour into the chocolate mixture and gently fold it in until fully incorporated. Be careful not to overmix.

Baking

  1. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  2. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes. The edges should be firm, but the center will still look soft.

  3. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
