Chocolate Base

Method

Chocolate Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Water and Cocoa

In a medium saucepan, combine the water and unsweetened cocoa powder over medium heat. Whisk until the cocoa powder is fully dissolved.

  2. 2

    Add Milk and Sugar

Slowly stir in the whole milk and granulated sugar into the saucepan. Continue to whisk until the mixture is smooth and heated through, but do not bring it to a boil.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Flavorings

Add the vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Stir well to combine.

  4. 4

    Add Dark Chocolate

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the chopped dark chocolate until fully melted and incorporated. Adjust sweetness if necessary.

Whipped Cream Preparation

  1. 5

    Whip the Cream

In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, whip on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.

  2. 6

    Serve

Once the hot chocolate is ready, pour it into mugs and top with a generous dollop of the freshly whipped cream.
