Ice Cream Preparation

Prepare the Mixture
In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined and sugar is dissolved.

Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until it is thoroughly chilled.

Churn the Ice Cream
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Add Chocolate Chips
During the last few minutes of churning, add 1 cup of chocolate chips to the ice cream mixture.

Freeze the Ice Cream
Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
