Manicotti Ingredients

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Boil the manicotti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a skillet, cook the Italian sausage or meatballs until fully cooked. Allow to cool slightly, then crumble or chop into small pieces.

  3. 3

    Mix the Cheese Filling

In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Combine with Meat

Fold in the cooked sausage or meatball pieces into the cheese mixture.

  5. 5

    Stuff the Manicotti

Using a spoon or piping bag, carefully fill each manicotti shell with the cheese and meat mixture.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Dish

Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Place the stuffed manicotti on top, then cover with remaining marinara sauce and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

  7. 7

    Bake

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.

  8. 8

    Serve

Let the manicotti cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy with a side salad or minestrone.
