Pasta Preparation

Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Once boiling, add a generous amount of salt (about 1 tablespoon).

Cook the Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside. Do not rinse.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.

Simmer the Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
Combine and Serve

Toss the Pasta with Sauce
Add the drained spaghetti to the marinara sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
