Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
Fill a large pot with water and add 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring it to a boil over high heat.

Cook Penne
Once the water is boiling, add the penne pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes.

Once cooked, drain the penne pasta in a colander and set aside. Reserve some pasta water for later use.
Making the Sauce

In a large skillet, heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

Stir in the red chili flakes and cook for an additional 30 seconds.

Pour in the crushed canned tomatoes and stir well. Season with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the drained penne pasta directly into the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta.
