Prepare the Marinara Sauce

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

Simmer Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the marinara sauce simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Finish Sauce
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Keep warm until ready to serve.
Prepare the Calamari

Prepare Calamari
In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and black pepper. Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.

Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry Calamari
Carefully add the dredged calamari to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Cook the Linguini

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.

Cook Linguini
Add the linguini pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the linguini and set aside.
Assemble and Serve

Combine and Serve
In a large serving bowl, combine the cooked linguini with the marinara sauce, tossing to coat. Top with the fried calamari and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve immediately.
