Base

Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s hot enough to bake the Stella evenly.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are fine.

  5. 5

    Bake

Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Topping Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare Strawberries

While the base is baking, slice the fresh strawberries and place them in a bowl. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and toss gently to coat.

  2. 7

    Whip Cream

In a medium bowl, whip the cream until soft peaks form. If desired, you can sweeten it slightly with powdered sugar.

  3. 8

    Assemble

Once the base has cooled, cut it into squares, top each piece with the sweetened strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream.
