Method
Preparation Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Bread Pudding
In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and chopped white chocolate. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- 2
Combine Mixtures
Pour the egg mixture over the bread and chocolate. Gently fold the mixture to ensure all the bread is soaked. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes to absorb the liquid.
- 3
Bake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish and pour the bread pudding mixture into it. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 4
Make the Foster Sauce
While the pudding is baking, prepare the Foster sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 1/2 cup of butter, then add 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of rum (optional), and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and bubbling. Add 2 sliced bananas and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- 5
Serve
Once the bread pudding is baked, let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with the warm Foster sauce.
