Skillet-Fried Chicken Ingredients
Method
Directions for Skillet-Fried Chicken
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, mix the flour, paprika, salt, and black pepper. This will be used to coat the chicken.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
- 4
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken pieces from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, making sure to coat them well.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil. Fry for about 10-15 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is golden brown and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
