Skillet Fried Chicken
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Add chicken pieces, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a shallow dish, add flour and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
- 3
Dredge the Chicken
Remove chicken from the marinade, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, pressing to adhere. Shake off excess flour.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add chicken pieces in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes per side. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
