Method

Bread Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. Add olive oil, chopped rosemary, salt, and flour. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

Filling Preparation

  1. 3

    Cook the Sausage and Peppers

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sausage and cook, breaking it apart until browned. Add the sliced sweet bell peppers and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.

Assembling and Baking

  1. 4

    Assemble the Panino

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Spread the sausage and pepper mixture over the dough, then sprinkle with Swiss cheese. Roll into a log and place seam-side down on a baking sheet.

  2. 5

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before slicing.
