Chips Ingredients

Method

Chips Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Use a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife to slice the potatoes thinly (about 1/8 inch thick).

  2. 2

    Soak the Potato Slices

Place the potato slices in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and ensures crispiness.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a kitchen thermometer for accuracy.

  4. 4

    Dry the Potato Slices

After soaking, drain the potato slices and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels to remove excess water.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potato Slices

Carefully add a handful of potato slices to the hot oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 3-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Once the chips are golden and crispy, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, sprinkle with salt, paprika, and garlic powder to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Transfer the chips to a serving bowl, and enjoy them warm. They can be served plain or with your favorite dipping sauce.
