Method
Preparation
Make the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, ground veal, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Shape the Meatballs
Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cook the Meatballs
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned.
Prepare the Sauce
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes.
Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 10 minutes.
