Whipped Yukon Gold Potatoes

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Yukon Gold potatoes and cut them into evenly sized chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add salt to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook the Potatoes

Bring the pot of water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and let the potatoes simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are tender and easily pierced with a fork.

  3. 3

    Heat the Cream and Butter

While the potatoes are cooking, in a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the heavy cream and heat until warm. If using garlic, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 4

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Begin mashing the potatoes using a potato masher or a ricer for a smoother texture.

  5. 5

    Combine and Whip

Gradually add the warm butter and cream mixture to the mashed potatoes. Continue to whip the potatoes until they are light and fluffy. Season with additional salt and black pepper to taste.

  6. 6

    Serve

Transfer the whipped Yukon Gold potatoes to a serving bowl and garnish with a pat of butter or fresh herbs if desired. Serve immediately.
