Method

Cooking Shrimp

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

Fill a large pot with 4 cups of water and add the halved lemon and Old Bay seasoning. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add the large shrimp. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, until they are pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Chill the Shrimp

Remove the shrimp from the pot and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them chill for 5-10 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain and Dry

Once chilled, drain the shrimp and pat them dry with paper towels.

Making Cocktail Sauce

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using) until well combined.

  2. 6

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust the horseradish or hot sauce to your preference for spiciness.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Chilled

Arrange the chilled shrimp on a platter and serve with the cocktail sauce on the side for dipping.

  2. 8

    Garnish (Optional)

You can also garnish the platter with lemon wedges and fresh parsley for an added touch.
