Method
Drop Biscuit
- 1
Prepare the Biscuit Dough
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 2
Mix in Milk
Stir in the milk until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
- 3
Drop the Biscuits
Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 4
Bake the Biscuits
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown. Remove and set aside.
Sausage Gravy
- 5
Cook the Sausage
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled, about 5-7 minutes.
- 6
Make the Roux
Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- 7
Add Milk and Season
Gradually add the milk while stirring constantly. Bring to a simmer and let it thicken for about 5 minutes. Season with black pepper and salt to taste.
Sunny-Side-Up Eggs
- 8
Cook the Eggs
In a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat, add the butter. Once melted, crack the eggs into the skillet. Cook gently until the whites are set, but the yolks remain runny, about 3-4 minutes.
Serving
- 9
Plate the Dish
To serve, place a drop biscuit on each plate, top with sausage gravy, and add 2 sunny-side-up eggs on the side. Garnish with a cup of fresh mixed fruit.
