Method
Donut Holes
- 1
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- 2
- 3
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 4
Melt Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter and then fold it into the batter until well incorporated.
- 5
Heat Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry Donut Holes
Scoop out small portions of the batter (about 1 tablespoon each) and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Berry Compote
- 8
Prepare Berries
In a medium saucepan, combine the mixed berries and granulated sugar. Stir gently to combine.
- 9
Cook Compote
Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until the berries release their juices and the mixture begins to bubble, about 5-7 minutes.
- 10
Add Lemon Juice
Stir in the lemon juice, and continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the compote to thicken slightly.
- 11
Cool and Serve
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving alongside the warm donut holes.
