Brisket Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Rub
In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, brown sugar, and liquid smoke to create a spice rub.
- 2
Season the Brisket
Rub the spice mixture all over the beef brisket, ensuring it is evenly coated. Wrap the brisket in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Smoking the Brisket
- 3
Preheat the Smoker
Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C) using your choice of wood chips.
- 4
Smoke the Brisket
Place the brisket in the smoker and smoke for about 1.5 hours per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 195°F (90°C). This could take approximately 4-6 hours.
- 5
Rest the Brisket
Once cooked, remove the brisket from the smoker and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
BBQ Sauce Preparation
- 6
Mix the Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
Slaw Preparation
- 7
Combine Slaw Ingredients
In a large bowl, mix together shredded cabbage, grated carrots, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper until well combined. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Sandwich Assembly
- 8
Assemble the Sandwiches
Slice the smoked brisket against the grain and pile it onto each burger bun. Top with BBQ sauce and slaw. Serve immediately.
