Cocktail Base
Garnish & Finish
Method
Prepare Glass and Garnish
- 1
Rim (optional)
If you want a seasoned rim, rub one lime wedge around the outer rim of a chilled coupe or large wine glass, then dip the rim into coarse sea salt or Tajín laid out on a small plate. Set the glass aside in the refrigerator or freezer to chill while you mix the cocktail.
- 2
Cut the lime into wheels or wedges for garnish and prepare an orange twist if using. Have them ready to finish the drink.
Mix Cocktail
- 3
In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, freshly squeezed lime juice, orange liqueur, and simple syrup.
- 4
Add 1 cup of ice to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is frosty and well-chilled.
- 5
Strain the shaken mixture into the chilled rimmed glass, using a fine strainer if you prefer a very clean pour. Do not fill the glass more than about half full to leave room for the Cava.
- 6
Finish & Serve
- 7
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and an optional orange twist. Serve immediately to enjoy the sparkling texture.
- 8
If serving multiple cocktails, scale ingredients (see notes) and keep the Cava cold. Mix the base components (tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, simple syrup) in a pitcher with ice, strain into glasses, then top each with chilled Cava just before serving.
