Ingredients for Hamburger Steak with Foie Gras

Method

Directions for Hamburger Steak with Foie Gras

  1. 1

    Prepare the Hamburger Steaks

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce if using. Mix until just combined, then form into 4 equal patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Hamburger Steaks

In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness. Remove and keep warm.

  3. 3

    Make the Au Poivre Sauce

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and the beef broth. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Cook until slightly thickened, about 3-4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Potatoes

While the steaks are cooking, peel and cut the potatoes into wedges. Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet and roast in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

  5. 5

    Cook the Foie Gras

In a separate pan, sear the foie gras over medium-high heat for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Dish

On each plate, place a hamburger steak, top with a piece of foie gras, and drizzle with the au poivre sauce. Serve alongside the roasted potatoes and garnish with fresh parsley.
