Marinade
Breading
Frying
Method
Marinating the Chicken
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Breading the Chicken
- 3
Prepare the Breading
In a separate shallow dish, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 4
Bread the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
Frying the Chicken
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, add vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add the breaded chicken pieces to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C).
- 7
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
