For the Hamburger Steaks

For the Gravy

Method

Preparing the Hamburger Steaks

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground Angus beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, beaten egg, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook Patties

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the patties to the skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Making the Gravy

  1. 4

    Sauté Onions

In the same skillet, add sliced onions and sauté in the remaining oil for about 3-4 minutes until they are translucent.

  2. 5

    Add Broth and Seasoning

Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Thicken the Gravy

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to form a slurry. Slowly add this mixture to the simmering gravy while stirring continuously until it thickens.

  4. 7

    Season the Gravy

Add salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning as necessary.

  5. 8

    Serve

Return the cooked hamburger steaks to the skillet with the gravy and let them simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes. Serve hot with the gravy poured over the patties.
