Method
Cream Layer Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Egg Yolks
In a large mixing bowl, separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Whisk the egg yolks with granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.
- 2
Combine Mascarpone
Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract to the whipped egg yolks. Mix gently until well combined and smooth.
- 3
Whip the Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gradually fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Coffee Layer Preparation
- 4
Brew the Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee using your preferred method, and let it cool slightly. If using coffee liqueur, mix it into the brewed coffee.
Assembly
- 5
Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Lay them in a single layer in the bottom of a rectangular dish.
- 6
Layer the Cream
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of soaked ladyfingers.
- 7
Repeat the Process
Repeat the dipping process with the remaining ladyfingers and layer them on top of the cream layer. Top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 8
Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- 9
Serve
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder. Cut into squares and enjoy your classic Italian dessert.
