Cook the Spaghetti
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, drain and set aside.

Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
