Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare vanilla simple syrup (if not ready)
Combine equal parts granulated sugar and water (for example 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water) in a small saucepan. Split a vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape seeds into the saucepan, then add the pod. Warm gently over medium-low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let steep for 20–30 minutes. Strain out vanilla pod and cool. Measure out 0.5 oz for this recipe and refrigerate remainder for future use.
- 2
Build and shake
Fill a shaker with about 1 cup of ice. Add 2 oz Cirrus Vodka, 0.75 oz Passoa, 1.5 oz pineapple juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz vanilla simple syrup, and 0.75 oz blood orange purée. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold and properly diluted.
- 3
Strain and serve
Double-strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe glass or a rocks glass filled with fresh ice, using both the shaker strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove pulp and small ice shards. If you prefer a layered visual, pour the blood orange purée in first and then very gently float the shaken cocktail over the back of a spoon.
Garnish & Finish
- 4
Garnish the drink with a blood orange wheel on the rim and optionally add a pineapple wedge or an edible flower. Serve immediately.
