Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

If desired, run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass and dip the rim into coarse salt to coat lightly. Fill the glass with fresh ice if serving on the rocks; if serving up, chill the glass in the freezer or fill with ice while you prepare the cocktail and discard before pouring.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

Add 2 oz Querendon Blanco Tequila, 0.5 oz Grand Marnier, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave syrup to a cocktail shaker.

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker about two-thirds with ice (roughly 3/4 to 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.

  4. 4

    Strain

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass: through the shaker strainer into the glass if serving on the rocks, or through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled coupe if serving up. If serving on the rocks and the glass already contains ice, pour over the ice.

  5. 5

    Garnish and finish

Express the oils of an orange twist over the surface of the cocktail by holding the twist skin-side down and giving it a quick pinch, then drop the twist into the drink (or float a thin orange wheel). Serve immediately.

  6. 6

Taste and adjust: the blend of lime, agave and Grand Marnier should be balanced with the tequila. If the cocktail tastes too tart, add 0.25 oz more agave and stir; if too sweet, add 0.25 oz more lime and gently shake with ice again.
