Method
Marinate Chicken
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
Add the chicken thighs to the buttermilk mixture, ensuring they are completely submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
Prepare Breading
- 3
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a shallow dish, mix together the all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt.
- 4
Dredge the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to ensure an even coating.
Fry Chicken
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (180°C).
- 6
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add the breaded chicken to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Cook for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
Make Hot Honey Sauce
- 7
Combine Honey and Hot Sauce
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey and hot sauce. Stir until well mixed and warmed through, about 2-3 minutes.
