Cocktail
Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prep glass
Fill a rocks glass with 1 cup of fresh ice and set aside to chill while you mix the cocktail.
- 2
Measure and combine
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz Cappelletti, 0.5 oz triple sec, 1 oz fresh orange juice, 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup (use only if you prefer a slightly sweeter drink).
- 3
Shake
Add approximately 6 large ice cubes to the shaker, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosty.
- 4
Strain
Double-strain the mixture (using a Hawthorne and a fine mesh strainer if available) into the chilled rocks glass over the prepared ice.
- 5
Garnish and serve
Express the oils of an orange twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down and giving it a quick snap, then rim the glass with the peel and drop it in (or float an orange wheel). Serve immediately.

Tasting notes
The Dread River Thing balances vodka's neutral backbone with the bitter-sweet herbal character of Cappelletti and bright citrus from triple sec and fresh OJ. Adjust the optional simple syrup if you prefer it sweeter.
