Pasta

Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Crab and Cheese Sauce

  1. 2

    Make the Roux

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly until the mixture is bubbly and slightly golden.

  2. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually add the milk to the roux, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Continue to cook until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 4

    Add Cheese and Seasoning

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper until smooth and creamy.

  4. 5

    Incorporate Chicken and Crab

Gently fold in the shredded chicken and jumbo lump crab meat until well combined.

Combine and Bake

  1. 6

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni with the crab and cheese sauce. Mix until the pasta is evenly coated.

  2. 7

    Prepare for Baking

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac and cheese mixture into a greased baking dish.

  3. 8

    Add Topping

In a small bowl, mix the seasoned bread crumbs with the melted butter. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the top of the mac and cheese.

  4. 9

    Bake

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
