Add Garlic
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- 3
Deglaze with Wine
Pour in the dry white wine to deglaze the pot, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly reduced.
- 4
Add Broth and Seasonings
Add the beef broth, thyme, bay leaf, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.
Serving Preparation
- 5
Prepare the Baguette
While the soup is simmering, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the baguette and arrange the slices on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for about 10 minutes until lightly browned.
- 6
Add Cheese
Once the soup is ready, remove the bay leaf. Ladle the soup into oven-safe bowls, top with toasted baguette slices, and sprinkle with Gruyère and Parmesan cheese.
- 7
Broil
Place the bowls under the broiler for about 3-5 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Watch closely to avoid burning.
