Method

Gingerbread Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.

  2. 2

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. 3

    Add Molasses and Eggs

Beat in molasses and eggs one at a time until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with hot water. Mix until smooth.

  5. 5

    Bake

Pour the batter into a greased tower-shaped mold and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Caramel Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Make Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt sugar until it turns a golden brown. Slowly add in heavy cream and butter, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

Candied Pecans Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare Pecans

In a skillet over medium heat, combine pecans, sugar, cinnamon, and water. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and the pecans are coated and caramelized.

  2. 8

    Cool Pecans

Transfer the pecans to parchment paper to cool completely.
