Method

Falafel Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Chickpeas

Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas thoroughly under cold water. Allow to drain completely.

  2. 2

    Blend Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, baking powder, salt, black pepper, olive oil, and gluten-free flour. Pulse until the mixture is well combined but still slightly chunky.

  3. 3

    Form Falafels

Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls or patties, about the size of a golf ball. Place on a plate lined with parchment paper.

  4. 4

    Chill

Cover the formed falafels with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.

Cooking Falafel

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat until hot.

  2. 6

    Fry Falafels

Carefully add the chilled falafels to the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Tahini Sauce Preparation

  1. 7

    Combine Ingredients

In a bowl, whisk together the tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, water, and salt until smooth and creamy. Adjust the consistency with more water if necessary.
