Potato Preparation
Seasoning Mix
Method
Preparing the Potatoes
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to form fries.
- 2
Soak the Fries
Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- 3
Dry the Fries
After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
Frying the Fries
- 4
Heat the Oil
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the fries in batches to the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain the Fries
Once fried, use a slotted spoon to remove the fries and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
Seasoning the Fries
- 7
Prepare the Seasoning Mix
In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, dried oregano, and dried thyme.
- 8
Season the Fries
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle the seasoning mix over them and toss to coat evenly.
- 9
Add Parmesan (Optional)
If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the seasoned fries for added flavor.
