Method
Mascarpone Mixture Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on medium speed until it becomes smooth and creamy, about 3-5 minutes. Do not overbeat.
Coffee Mixture Preparation
- 2
Make the Coffee Mixture
In a shallow dish, combine the espresso (or strong brewed coffee) with the coffee liqueur (if using). Stir well to combine and let it cool slightly.
Assembling the Tiramisu
- 3
Layer the Tiramisu
Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of a rectangular dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, smoothing it out evenly.
- 4
Repeat the Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone layer, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture. Smooth the top with a spatula.
Finishing Touches
- 5
Dust with Cocoa
Sift the dark cocoa powder evenly over the top of the tiramisu. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
