Instructions

  1. 1

    Preparing the Fabric

Cut the insulated fabric into two pieces, each measuring 18 inches by 12 inches. This will form the main body of the cooler tote bag.

  2. 2

    Creating the Base

Cut an additional piece of fabric measuring 18 inches by 6 inches. This will serve as the bottom of the cooler tote.

  3. 3

    Sewing the Body

Place the two 18x12 inch fabric pieces right sides together. Pin along the sides and bottom, leaving the top open. Sew along the pinned edges with a 1/2 inch seam allowance.

  4. 4

    Attaching the Base

Take the 18x6 inch piece and pin it to the bottom of the sewn body, making sure to align the edges. Sew around the perimeter to attach.

  5. 5

    Adding the Zipper

Pin the zipper to the top edge of the bag opening. Sew along the zipper line to attach it securely.

  6. 6

    Creating the Straps

Cut two strips of strap material measuring 36 inches each. Fold each strip in half lengthwise and sew along the long edge. Turn them inside out for a finished look.

  7. 7

    Attaching the Straps

Pin each strap to the sides of the bag, approximately 4 inches from the top. Sew securely to ensure they can support the weight of the cooler.

  8. 8

    Finishing Touches

Turn the bag right side out and check all seams. Trim any excess thread and ensure the zipper operates smoothly.
