Grilled Halloumi with Figs and Hazelnuts

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Begin by gathering all your ingredients. Rinse the fresh figs under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Toast the Hazelnuts

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Spread the hazelnuts on a baking tray and toast them in the oven for about 10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fragrant. Remove from the oven and let them cool before roughly chopping.

  3. 3

    Slice the Halloumi

While the hazelnuts are toasting, slice the halloumi cheese into 1 cm thick slices.

  4. 4

    Grill the Halloumi

Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill over medium heat. Brush the halloumi slices with olive oil on both sides. Once the grill is hot, add the halloumi slices and grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and grill marks appear.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Figs

While grilling the halloumi, cut the figs in half lengthwise.

  6. 6

    Combine Ingredients

Once the halloumi is grilled, remove it from the grill and let it rest for a minute. Arrange the grilled halloumi on a serving plate. Add the halved figs around the halloumi.

  7. 7

    Finish with Hazelnuts and Dressing

Sprinkle the chopped hazelnuts over the grilled halloumi and figs. Drizzle honey and balsamic glaze over the top. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while the halloumi is warm, as an appetizer or a light meal.
