Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine chicken thighs and buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Chicken
Remove chicken from buttermilk and let excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring it's fully coated. Shake off any excess.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add the coated chicken thighs to the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and place on a wire rack or paper towel to drain excess oil.
- 6
Make the Green Garlic Ranch
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, minced green garlic, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
