Method

Preparation of Yuca

  1. 1

    Peel and Cut Yuca

Start by peeling the yuca with a sharp knife. Cut it into small chunks, approximately 2 inches in length.

  2. 2

    Boil Yuca

In a large pot, add the yuca chunks and pour in 4 cups of water. Add 1 tsp of salt to the water. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.

  3. 3

    Cook Until Tender

Allow the yuca to boil for about 20-25 minutes, or until it is soft and tender. You can test it by poking it with a fork.

  4. 4

    Drain and Set Aside

Once cooked, drain the yuca in a colander and let it cool slightly. Set aside for further preparation.

Flavoring and Serving

  1. 5

    Prepare the Garlic

While the yuca is boiling, finely chop the garlic cloves.

  2. 6

    Mix Flavor Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the chopped garlic, 2 tbs of olive oil, 1 cup of chopped fresh cilantro, and 2 tbs of lime juice. Mix well.

  3. 7

    Combine with Yuca

Once the yuca has cooled slightly, add the yuca chunks to the bowl with the flavor mixture. Toss gently to coat the yuca evenly.

  4. 8

    Serve

Transfer the seasoned yuca to a serving platter and enjoy warm as a side dish or appetizer.
