Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brussels Sprouts

Trim the stem ends of the Brussels sprouts and remove any yellow or damaged outer leaves. Cut each sprout in half lengthwise.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 3

    Fry the Brussels Sprouts

Carefully add the halved Brussels sprouts to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Make sure to stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.

  3. 4

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the Brussels sprouts from the oil and drain on a plate lined with paper towels. While still hot, drizzle the white soy sauce and patis over the sprouts, and sprinkle with togarashi. Toss to evenly coat.

Serving

  1. 5

    Garnish and Serve

Transfer the seasoned Brussels sprouts to a serving dish. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish. Serve immediately while hot.
