Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a large bowl, combine warm water, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and salt together.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the flour mixture along with olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 6

    Cook Filling

In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and the vegetables are softened.

  2. 7

    Season Filling

Add cumin, paprika, black pepper, and salt to the meat mixture. Stir and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

  3. 8

    Add Cheese

Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 9

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 10

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle.

  3. 11

    Fill Dough

Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.

  4. 12

    Prepare for Baking

Place the filled dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds.

  5. 13

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. 14

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
