Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine the water, butter, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove from heat and stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated after each addition.

Coating Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with the ground cinnamon. Stir until the mixture is well combined.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe Dough

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe strips of dough (about 4-6 inches long) directly into the hot oil.

  3. 7

    Fry Churros

Fry the churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  4. 8

    Coat Churros

While still warm, roll the churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
