Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Tuna

In a bowl, combine the olive oil, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well mixed.

  2. 2

    Add Tuna to Marinade

Place the fresh tuna steaks in the bowl with the marinade, ensuring they are coated evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan.

  2. 4

    Sear the Tuna

Remove the tuna steaks from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off. Place the tuna steaks in the hot pan. Sear each side for about 1-2 minutes for rare, or longer if you prefer it cooked more.

  3. 5

    Rest the Tuna

Once seared, remove the tuna from the pan and let it rest for a couple of minutes before slicing.

Garnishing

  1. 6

    Prepare the Garnish

While the tuna rests, chop the green onions and toast the sesame seeds in the same pan for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 7

    Serve

Slice the tuna steak into thin pieces, arrange on a plate, and sprinkle with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.
