Hummus Base

Roasted Jalapeños

Method

Prep and Roast Jalapeños

  1. 1

    Roast the Jalapeños

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the jalapeños on a baking sheet and roast them in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through, until the skin is blistered and charred.

  2. 2

    Cool and Peel

Once roasted, remove the jalapeños from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Once cool, peel off the charred skin, remove the stems, and seeds if you prefer less heat.

Make the Hummus

  1. 3

    Blend the Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the canned chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and cumin. Add the roasted jalapeños (reserve a couple for garnish if desired).

  2. 4

    Process Until Smooth

Blend the mixture until smooth, adding a little water if necessary to reach your desired consistency.

Serve the Hummus

  1. 5

    Prepare for Serving

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with a little olive oil and top with reserved jalapeños if using.

  2. 6

    Arrange the Accompaniments

Arrange fresh vegetables and crostini around the hummus for dipping.
