Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the flat iron steak dry with paper towels. Rub the steak with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, followed by 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. Ensure the steak is evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, approximately 400°F to 450°F (200°C to 230°C).

  3. 3

    Grill the Steak

Place the seasoned steak on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting time based on your desired level of doneness.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Chimichurri Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Herbs

Finely chop 1 cup of fresh parsley and 1 tablespoon of fresh oregano. You can also use a food processor for a finer consistency.

  2. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped parsley, oregano, minced garlic (4 cloves), 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar, 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, and 1 cup of olive oil. Mix well.

  3. 7

    Season the Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper to the chimichurri sauce. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients.

  4. 8

    Serve

Serve the chimichurri sauce alongside the grilled flat iron steak for dipping or drizzling.
