Meat Filling
Taco Toppings
Method
Preparing the Taco Shells
- 1
Warm the tortillas
Heat the corn tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side until warm and pliable.
Cooking the Meat Filling
- 2
Brown the meat
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add your choice of ground meat (beef, chicken, or turkey). Cook, stirring frequently, until the meat is browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- 3
Add seasoning
Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the cooked meat, then add 1 cup of water. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Assembling the Tacos
- 4
Fill the tacos
Take each warmed tortilla and fill it with the seasoned meat mixture. Start with about 2-3 tablespoons of meat per taco.
- 5
Add toppings
Top each taco with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, sliced jalapeños, and chopped cilantro as desired.
- 6
Serve
Serve the tacos immediately while they are warm, with lime wedges on the side if desired.
