Prepare the Bread
Slice the rustic bread loaf into thick slices, about 1 inch each. If desired, you can lightly toast them on a grill or in a toaster to give them a crispy texture.

Prepare the Garlic
Peel the garlic cloves and cut them in half. You will rub the cut side of the garlic onto the slices of bread to infuse the flavor.

Assemble the Dish
Take each slice of the prepared rustic bread and rub the cut side of the garlic onto the surface. Then, spoon or spread the grated or mashed tomato generously over each slice.

Add Olive Oil and Salt
Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil over the tomato-covered bread slices. Finally, sprinkle the fleur de sel over the top to enhance the flavors.
